THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT HOSTED THE HEAD OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE’S DEPARTMENT FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS, JUSTICE AND LEGAL CO-OPERATION STANDARDS
On 20 May 2026, the President of the Constitutional Court, Arman Dilanyan, hosted the delegation led by Lilja Gretarsdottir, Head of the Council of Europe’s Department for the Implementation of Human Rights, Justice and Legal Co-operation Standards.
Welcoming the guests, the President of the Constitutional Court highly appreciated the role of the Council of Europe in the processes carried out in Armenia in the fields of the rule of law, human rights and fundamental freedoms, as well as constitutional justice. Arman Dilanyan emphasized that, owing to the effective cooperation with the Council of Europe, significant progress has already been recorded in several areas of the institutional reforms of the Constitutional Court.
Lilja Gretarsdottir, Head of the Council of Europe’s Department for the Implementation of Human Rights, Justice and Legal Co-operation Standards, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and noted that the Constitutional Court is a reliable partner of the Council of Europe and reiterated her commitment to continuing the effective cooperation.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the work carried out within the framework of the Project “Support to the Development of Constitutional Justice in Armenia in Line with European Standards,” outlined the forthcoming steps, and also touched upon a number of issues of mutual interest.
