THE PRESIDENT AND JUSTICES OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT MET WITH THE LADY CHIEF JUSTICE OF ENGLAND AND WALES
Within the framework of the working visit to the United Kingdom, the delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia visited the Royal Courts of Justice in London, where meetings were held with representatives of the senior judiciary of the United Kingdom.
The President of the RA Constitutional Court, Arman Dilanyan, and Justices Hovakim Hovakimyan, Seda Safaryan, and Artak Zeynalyan met with the Lady Chief Justice of England and Wales, the Baroness Carr of Walton-on-the-Hill. During the meeting, the parties discussed guarantees of judicial independence, mechanisms for strengthening public trust in the judiciary, as well as the specific features of adjudicating politically and publicly sensitive cases.
Subsequently, an extended-format meeting took place with the participation of Lord Justice Newey, Lord Justice Snowden, Mr Justice Robin Knowles, and Mr Justice Simon Picken. During the discussions, the participants addressed issues relating to court administration, the efficiency of the judicial system, and access to justice. The parties emphasized the importance of international professional cooperation and the exchange of judicial experience, particularly in the fields of constitutional justice and court administration. The delegation also toured the Royal Courts of Justice and became acquainted with the structure of the senior courts of England and Wales, as well as the historical specifics of the development of the courts.
