THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA MET WITH THE PRESIDENT OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED KINGDOM

On 11–12 May 2026, a delegation led by the President of the Constitutional Court, Arman Dilanyan, paid a working visit to the United Kingdom.

Within the framework of the working visit to London, on 11 May 2026, the delegation of the RA Constitutional Court visited the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and held a meeting with the President of the UK Supreme Court, Lord Reed of Allermuir, and the Deputy President of the UK Supreme Court, Lord Sales. During the meeting, the parties discussed fundamental issues relating to safeguarding judicial independence, judicial leadership, and maintaining public trust. The parties emphasized the importance of the continuous development of international cooperation in the field of constitutional justice and the necessity of exchanging experience. At the conclusion of the meeting, Arman Dilanyan and Lord Reed exchanged commemorative gifts. Arman Dilanyan also left a note in the Commemoration Book of the UK Supreme Court.

A number of high-level meetings were also held at the UK Supreme Court, dedicated to issues of judicial independence, court administration, and public communication. The delegation toured the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and familiarized itself with the specific features of the Court’s activities, its structure, and jurisdiction. This was followed by a professional discussion with the Court’s leadership responsible for communications and external relations. The discussions addressed modern tools of judicial communication, mechanisms for working with the media, digital communication strategies, as well as projects aimed at strengthening public trust.

The delegation led by the President of the RA Constitutional Court, Arman Dilanyan, included Justices of the RA Constitutional Court Seda Safaryan, Hovakim Hovakimyan, and Artak Zeynalyan, as well as representatives of the Court’s staff. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to the United Kingdom, Varuzhan Nersisyan, representatives of the Council of Europe, and officials of the UK Ministry of Justice also participated in the meetings. The visit was organized within the framework of the Council of Europe Project “Support to the Development of Constitutional Justice in Armenia in Line with European Standards”.
