THE PRESIDENT OF THE CONSTITUTIONAL COURT OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA MET WITH THE DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RIGHTS OF THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE

On 30 January 2026, the President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Armenia, Arman Dilanyan, held a meeting in Strasbourg with Clare Ovey, Director of Human Rights of the Council of Europe.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized their commitment to the principles of democracy, the protection of human rights, and the rule of law. The President of the Constitutional Court, Arman Dilanyan, referred to the projects jointly implemented by the Constitutional Court and the Council of Europe within the framework of the Project “Support to the Development of Constitutional Justice in Armenia in line with European standards”, emphasizing that these projects contribute - both technically and substantively - to the ongoing process of institutional reforms of the High Court.

Clare Ovey, Director of Human Rights of the Council of Europe, highly appreciated the cooperation with the Constitutional Court, describing it as exemplary. She noted that in the Council of Europe’s upcoming projects, the issues concerning the deepening of constitutional control mechanisms would be of paramount importance. Giovanni Battista Celiento, Head of the Co-operation Programmes Division of the Council of Europe, and Lilit Daneghian, Advisor on Justice Reforms at the Directorate General of Human Rights and Rule of Law of the Council of Europe, also attended the meeting.
